Have you ever wanted to learn to use Photoshop, become an Excel expert, or build your own website? Now you can learn this and so much more from the comfort of your own couch!
Troy Public Library is excited to offer free 24/7 access to lynda.com from wherever you happen to be. Lynda.com offers classes in the areas of 3D, animation, audio, business, design, developer, home computing, photography, video, and web. Classes with Lynda.com are taught through a one-way video tutorial, with bookmarks and sub-sections set every few minutes to track your progress. The video is paired with a transcript of the lesson that matches the video with every line spoken. At any point, the videos can be paused or closed down, and re-opened when you are ready to return. The site is set up to allow you to be as in-depth or broad as you’d like. You can focus on the individual sections you’re interested in (i.e. only watching the sections on tables in Microsoft Word) or take the full course. Lynda.com lessons range in time commitment from 20 minutes to 10 hours of learning on any particular subject.
To access lynda.com’s resources for free, you will need to go through the library’s referral link which is available here or on our eResources page. Signing into Lynda.com will require your library card number and PIN, which opens your personalized Lynda.com account. It keeps track of the courses you are currently taking and have already taken. Unlike most of our eResources, it will ask you to log in with your library card whether you are within the library or not.
Our subscription is limited to 35 simultaneous users, so if you are ever unable to access Lynda please try back later.
