Although the Library does not accept book donations to add to our collection, the Friends of Troy Public Library operates the Friends Book Shop and takes book donations. The donation drop is located in the main lobby across from the Circulation desk. Donate according to the following stipulations:
How to Donate Materials
Books and media in good and clean condition, from smoke-free homes, are always welcome. Donations may be left in drop box located across from the Circulation Desk during library business hours. Receipts are available and donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
- AV – except cassettes
We cannot accept:
- Books with mold or odor
- Condensed books
- Encyclopedias more than 10 years old
- Home-made video or audio recordings
- Time-sensitive out-of-date materials like periodicals and computer textbooks
- Mondays 10 am–1 pm
- Thursdays 5–8 pm
- Saturdays 10 am–1 pm

We have a wide selection of gently used books, many in like-new condition. Our inventory of approximately 50,000 items is always changing with new donations arriving daily. Most items priced at just .50 cents to $1.00 and themed weekly specials are posted on our Facebook page – so visit often!
