FAQs

How do I pay fines online?
You may pay fines online by logging into your account and selecting the “pay fines” option.
What are the TPL's hours of operation?
Current hours can be viewed here.
How do I apply for a Library card?
To apply for a Library card, bring a valid Michigan Driver’s License or State ID with your current address on it to the Circulation desk in the Library’s lobby. You can view a list of who is eligible for a card here.
How do I log in to my Library account?
To log into your account, head to our Catalog and click "My Account" at the top. Enter your Library card number and your password (PIN) and click Log In. From here you can review your account or renew your material.
How can I renew items?
Log into your account using the steps above. Click on Items Out. Select which items you wish to renew then click Renew Selected Items. If you wish to renew all items you currently have out, click Renew All Items. If you prefer to renew by phone, call 248.619.7590.
How can I place holds on items from home?
Search our catalog from the Library Catalog search box in the center of our homepage. This will take you into our catalog. When you find an item you would like to place on hold, click on the Place Request button located at the bottom of that item’s record. If you have not already logged in, enter your Library card number and your password (PIN). Click Submit Request. You can continue searching by clicking Return to Search Results or see your holds by clicking Go to Your List of Hold Requests.
Why is my account blocked when I try to checkout?

Our automated circulation system blocks an account when a patron has $5 or more in fees. A payment to bring the fees under $5 will eliminate the block.

I can't remember my PIN. Can you give it to me?
If you forget your password (PIN), you can do one of two things:

  1. If you have an email address registered with your Library account, go to the Library’s home page and click on Account in the navigation bar. This will take you to the log in screen, where you can click on Forgot Your Password? and have your password emailed to you.
  2. Or, you can come into the Library and go to the Circulation desk in the lobby with your Troy Library card and personal identification. A staff member will be happy to help you reset your password (PIN).
What should I do if I lose my card?

If you lose your card, please visit the Circulation desk in the lobby. A staff member will assist you with a new card. There is a $3 fee for lost cards.
