Book & Item Donation

The Friends of the Troy Public Library accepts donations of books and media in good and clean condition, from smoke-free homes, to sell in the Friends Book Shop, located in the basement of the Library.
How to Donate Materials
Donations of two boxes or fewer must be securely boxed or bagged and may be placed in the drop box located across from the Checkout desk in the Library. Donations are tax-deductible to the extend allowed by law. Receipts are available.
Donations of three boxes or more are accepted on Saturdays, from 10 am–12 pm, by appointment only. Click here to schedule an appointment, or call 248.524.3538. Donations are tax-deductible to the extend allowed by law. Receipts are available.

- Magazines
- Textbooks
- Games/puzzles
- Audio Visual (except audio and VHS cassettes)
- Books with mold/odor/bugs
- Condensed books
- Encyclopedias
- Homemade audio/or video
- Time sensitive magazines/periodicals one year prior to the current year
- Medical/computer books older than five years
- Business books older than ten years
- Textbooks older than ten years

We have a wide selection of gently used books, many in like-new condition. Our inventory of approximately 50,000 items is always changing with new donations arriving daily. Most items priced at just .50 cents to $1.00. Themed weekly specials are posted on the Friends' Facebook page – so visit often!
