Thank you for your interest in promoting literacy and providing enrichment to our community's most vulnerable residents!
Every donor will receive a fun "This Is How I Roll" bookmobile sticker, and donations of $25 or more will earn a beautiful bookplate. Bookplates can read "Generously Gifted By" or "In Memory Of."
Please indicate how you would like the bookplate to read in the "Notes" section of the donation form. The book you contribute could spark a love of reading in a member of our community!

In Honored Memory of Salle Owen Kaichen – $135,000 Donation
Salle Owen Kaichen was a Detroit Public Schools teacher for 37 years and a devoted library user and supporter. Librarians loved working with Salle because she requested books covering the most interesting topics, from art history to opera to the cultures of the world. When Salle fell ill in her later years and struggled to visit the library, she enrolled in our homebound delivery program so that librarians would deliver books to her door. Even then, she remained keenly curious about a wide range of subjects, proving herself to be a true lifelong learner. When Salle passed away, she left a generous bequest to the library to honor her passion for literacy and learning. We plan to use her gift to purchase a community bookmobile. This fun, colorful outreach vehicle will bring books and programming to patrons of all ages who may have difficulty getting to the library on a regular basis, as well as the community as a whole. Please help us promote literacy and provide enrichment to the community by supporting this project with your donation. Thank you to Salle for being a true friend to the library. We are honored to be a part of her legacy.
The Friends of the Troy Public Library – $25,000 Donation
Thank you to the Friends of the Troy Public Library for their generous donation to the bookmobile project! The Friends work tirelessly all year long to make the library a better place for our patrons. Their fundraising efforts make all of our programming possible, from children's storytimes to teen programming to educational lectures for adults and seniors and everything in between. Their support of the bookmobile project will help us get books into the hands of all Troy residents, and we are so grateful to them. To learn more about the Friends, please visit their website.
