A fun, colorful mobile library will soon be making stops around the community this summer, thanks to support from our donors and community partners. Our Bookmobile will provide books for patrons of all ages, on-site library card registration, and outdoor programming. This service will brighten the lives of ALL Troy residents, particularly those who cannot make it to the library due to illness or injury, age or disability, or lack of time or access to transportation.

Thank You to Our Generous Sponsors

SalleOwenKaichenIn Honored Memory of Salle Owen Kaichen – $135,000 Donation
Salle Owen Kaichen was a Detroit Public Schools teacher for 37 years and a devoted library user and supporter. Librarians loved working with Salle because she requested books covering the most interesting topics, from art history to opera to the cultures of the world. When Salle fell ill in her later years and struggled to visit the library, she enrolled in our homebound delivery program so that librarians would deliver books to her door. Even then, she remained keenly curious about a wide range of subjects, proving herself to be a true lifelong learner. When Salle passed away, she left a generous bequest to the library to honor her passion for literacy and learning. We plan to use her gift to purchase a community bookmobile. This fun, colorful outreach vehicle will bring books and programming to patrons of all ages who may have difficulty getting to the library on a regular basis, as well as the community as a whole. Please help us promote literacy and provide enrichment to the community by supporting this project with your donation. Thank you to Salle for being a true friend to the library. We are honored to be a part of her legacy.
