With a current total of $69,373.19, the Troy Public Library hopes to reach its goal of $100,000 for the Endowment Fund by the end of the year. Like our First Edition donors, all donations of $100 or more will receive a book on the donor wall located by the main entrance of the Library.
Each $100 donated will equal a raffle entry to win a personalized Kindle Paperwhite or Nook, plus an hour-long session with a Technology Librarian to ask questions and learn how to use the gadgets. The Library will also pre-load five new releases for each winner. Donors who give $1,000 or more will receive the opportunity to have a one-on-one lunch with Troy Public Library Director Cathy Russ.
“I’m so excited by the progress we’ve made in building the Endowment Fund. We started just over one year ago and we’ve already raised about $70,000,” Russ said. “I’m really hoping we can get to $100,000 by the end of the year. Once we hit that goal, the Library will be able to use the interest generated by the principle to enhance library operations.”
The second round of books added will be tagged “Second Edition” and will be unveiled with a celebratory event at TPL.
The Endowment Fund will help TPL to be around for many years to come by setting aside special funds for the future. It helps not only the Library’s present, but also the future generations of Library users. The money is housed at the Troy Community Foundation, and it can be used to provide programming, implement facility enhancements and create more opportunities at the Library.
“The community is so generous and clearly supports and cares about its library. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has donated or is considering making a donation,” Russ said.
