Winter Wonderland FAQ

Q: Do I need to register?
No, this is a free event and no registration is required.

Q: Where should I park?
This event takes place at three different buildings, so parking is available in all lots. City Hall and Library parking lots will likely fill quickly, but plenty of parking will be available at the Community Center, Court House, and Troy Family Aquatic Center. See the map for all open lots.

Q: What time can my child meet Santa?
The Christmas Tree Lighting festivities take place at 6:30 pm with Athens High Choir and Troy High Drumline performing. After Santa lights the Christmas Tree, he will walk to his tent on the north side of City Hall, near the Library’s Peace Garden and remain seated to meet with children until 9 pm.

Q: What time will the Snow Sisters be performing?
The Snow Sisters will perform in Rooms 304/305 at the Troy Community Center from 7:15–7:45 pm. They will remain in that room for a meet and greet until 9 pm.

Q: Will there be food and drink for purchase?
Tim Hortons will provide free hot cocoa and Timbits (one bag and cup per person) at two locations outside while supplies last. The Nosh Pit food truck will be parked on the south side of the Community Center during the entire event with food for sale. Pizza, pop and water will be available for purchase (cash only) inside the Community Center during the entire event.

Q: Can I bring my stroller/wagon?
Strollers/wagons will be permitted in the Community Center, but not inside the Library. Self stroller parking will be available on the west side of the library while you enjoy activities inside.
Q: What if I have a child under 5 and a child over 5? Will one not be allowed to participate?
No child will be turned away from an activity. However, activities have been separated by building and designed for appropriate age levels to help alleviate crowds, and to add more games and activities for children under 5. The event has been planned so that you may be able to visit both buildings throughout the evening if you would like.

Q: Do I need to drive back and forth to the Library or Community Center?
The Troy Trolley will shuttle between both buildings throughout the event, with a pick up at the east side of the Library and a pick up at the north entrance of the Community Center. You may also walk the lighted path between both buildings, which will have a Tim Hortons tent while supplies last.

Q: What should I bring with me?

  • Warm clothes/jackets to enjoy outdoor activities
  • Socks for the little ones to use the inflatables at the Community Center
  • Swimwear for those who plan to partake in open swim at the Community Center
