Our Latest N3B Reader Request
Dear N3B Librarian:
I enjoy biographies about comedians or actresses/actors. I loved Tina Fey's Bossypants. I also like collections of short stories like George Saunders or Miranda July. I like interesting non-fiction like The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
Dear Reader:
If you like sharp, funny women like Tina Fey, I bet you'll love Sloane Crosley. I've put I Was Told There'd Be Cake on your list, but you can't go wrong with any of her books.
Next up is Kelly Link—she writes short stories with a magical realism twist. She's not exactly like Miranda July, but her stories have the same kind of whimsical tone that keeps you wondering what will happen next. (If you try Link and like her, I'd suggest picking up Carmen Maria Machado's Her Body and Other Parties next.)
Lastly, I included Boys in the Trees by Carly Simon. I was blown away by this autobiography—Simon lead quite a life, and she writes about it with insight, elegance, and a bit of humor. It's smart, a little bit dishy, and totally fascinating—I hope you like it!
I hope you find something new to read here! If I’ve missed the mark or if you’ve read all these already, let me know and I’ll give it another go. If you’d like me to put some titles on hold for you, these or any others, let me know that, too!
Happy reading,
