From the Desk of Mr. T

MrTHeadShotHappy Fall everyone! School is back in full swing and that means it's Troybery Season!

Join us from October 1, 2019 – April 30, 2020 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Troybery! This year, students can choose from a list of 190 previous nominees and award winners to select the Best Troybery Book Ever! Students will vote for the best book in each genre in March. In April, vote for your favorite from the remaining top 10. Students can also participate in monthly challenges as they read.

The Troybery Award was established by the Troy School District Middle School Media Specialists in 2000 to give students a say in which books should be recognized for an award during the publication year. Many awards are given to books by adults, but Troybery empowers students to critically evaluate books and have their voices be heard. In previous years, ten books have been nominated for consideration. Students who read three or more of the nominated titles were invited to cast a ballot for the best book. One winner and three honor books were selected.

All of us here at the Troy Public Library are so happy we can support this program! We have many Troybery books available, and librarians can help you choose the ones you would like best. We even have a checklist to help you keep track of which Troyberys you have read. Stop by the library to pick one up!

We can't wait to see which book wins!

Yours Truly,
Mr. T
