ELL Book Club: For English Language Learners
English language learners are invited to meet for coffee and conversation at Biggby Coffee in Troy. Free copies of the book will be available to everyone who registers—pick yours up from the Adult Reference Desk before the meeting. Discussion is always laid-back and friendly, and you are not required to have read the whole book to participate—we will only be focusing on the first 20-30 pages of each book.

English language learners are invited to practice speaking and listening skills while making new friends in a casual, conversational atmosphere. All levels are welcome!

Customizable language courses for everyone. Over 160 languages to learn including ASL and ESL lessons. Pronunciator also has courses in over 140 home languages.

LearningExpress Library 
Practice tests and tutorial course preparation including TOEFL iBT and IELTS as well as the Citizenship exam. Resources for becoming a better reader and writer in English.

ProCitizen
With over 100 instructional videos each, plus interactive drills and quizzes, ProCitizen provides the civics, vocabulary, plus reading and writing practice that new citizens need to succeed at the citizenship test.

Hoopla
Hoopla is a free app that allows users to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, music, movies, and TV shows in many languages. Use the “Advanced Search” tool to search for the language of your choice.

LOTE4Kids
Provides over 1250 picture books in 40 world languages, including English translations, with new digital books and languages released each month.

Books & Magazines
We have a large collection of international language books in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Marathi, Polish, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. 

We also have a collection of international magazines and newspapers in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, Hindi, and Spanish.

We also carry books for people who are learning English, preparing for an English language proficiency exam, or seeking US citizenship. Stop by our Adult Reference Desk or call 248.524.3534 to learn more. 

Other Collections
We carry international films in more than 40 languages. The collection features films for families, adults, and children as well as dramas and TV shows.
