Get Started
  1. Reserve the Memory Lab – Make a 4 hour appointment during the Lab’s open hours. We will send you an “Application for Memory Lab Use” and approve your appointment. Appointments must end ½ hour before the library closes. You must have a TPL library card to book a session in advance.
  2. Plan a Way to Save – Please bring a USB flash drive, external hard drive or be prepared to log in to a previously set up cloud storage account (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc.) *Note: Digital Services does sell USB flash drives.
  3. Sign the Release Form – Arrive to your first session 5 minutes early. Check-in with staff at the Tech Room and sign the form if you have not already done so. If you are younger than 18, parental consent and presence during the session is required. The session must be booked by the parent.
  4. Digitize – Staff will walk you through the provided instructions for the equipment you are using that day and will be available for questions. Patrons are responsible for all media and personal items left in the memory lab if they step away during conversion. *Note: Audio and video digitize in real time. If you have an hour of material on the tape it will take an hour from pressing the record button to capture it.
