  • Rock Your Tax Planning: What the New Income Tax Law Means for You

    In late 2017 Congress passed the most comprehensive and sweeping changes to our income tax laws since the mid-1980's. These changes will impact virtually every taxpayer, and will take effect beginning with your 2018 tax return. Join CPA and Troy resident Tom Hill to learn about these changes and their impact on your tax situation, along with strategies you can implement now to reduce your 2018 tax liability. A Q&A session will follow.

  • Stuffed Animal Sleepover

    Bring your stuffed animal to the library for a special sleepover. We will enjoy some stories and make a bracelet for your stuffed buddy with their name on it. Then they get to stay overnight and have lots of fun playing with other toys. Come back the next day to pick up your buddy and a picture of them playing with their new friends.

  • Y.A.W.P.-- Young Adult Writers Program

    Whether you’re a poet or a world creator, a newbie or a super-writer, you are welcome to join the weekly Young Adult Writers Program. Local writers will be guest teachers, showing students how to write their best fiction and poetry and sharing the many career opportunities available to young writers. All teens ages 13-18 are invited to register.

    This session will help to demystify the Naturalization/Citizenship process - including Permanent Residency, Citizenship (e.g., eligibility requirements, application, interview and exam, and Oath Ceremony), Rights & Responsibilities of U.S. Citizenship. Useful for anyone interested in U.S. Citizenship, especially permanent residents applying for Naturalization or awaiting their Naturalization interview. Q&A Session follows.

    The 1968 Detroit Tigers, under manager Mayo Smith, won American baseball's World Series. It gave the city a much-needed boost following the tragedy of the year before. This presentation discusses the players, the season, and some of the great Tiger Stadium artifacts in the Detroit Historical Society collection.
